Questions

Everything people ask most often — from price and deposit through pain to healing and cover-ups.

Irezumi is the traditional Japanese style, with its own rules of composition. Motifs such as a dragon, a koi carp, a hannya mask or a shishi are joined to a background of waves, clouds and wind so that the whole thing follows the shape of the body. That is why Japanese work is at its best across larger areas — a sleeve, a back or a thigh.

The minimum charge is 80 €. Small pieces up to 10 cm come to 80 – 200 €, medium ones of 10 to 30+ cm to 200 – 500 €. Large projects I count by the day, at 400 € for six to seven hours. A full sleeve starts at around 1200 €.

The 50 € deposit holds the date and covers the time spent preparing the drawing. It comes off the final price. If you cancel less than 48 hours ahead it is forfeited — at that notice the slot cannot be offered to anyone else.

I work from my own chair at Rose And Dagger on Karpatská 23, 811 05 Bratislava in Bratislava. I am not the studio owner; I come in for booked appointments — so always let me know in advance, you will not find me there without one.

No. An idea, a placement and a rough size are enough. I draw the design myself — send me references you like and we settle the rest at the consultation.

It depends on the time of year. Smaller pieces can usually be fitted in within a few weeks; larger projects I plan further out. I can tell you exactly once you write to me.

Yes, but it is bearable. The most sensitive places are the ribs, the inner arm, the elbow, the knee and the foot. The least painful are the outer forearm, the thigh and the calf. On longer sessions we take breaks — it is not a race.

Sleep, eat properly and drink water. Do not come after a sleepless night or on an empty stomach. Skip alcohol the day before. Wear something that lets you uncover the area comfortably.

The surface heals in two to three weeks, the deeper layers in two to three months. For the first few days wash it, moisturise lightly, and keep it out of the sun, the pool and the bath. The full routine is in the aftercare article.

Yes, though not always. It depends on how dark and how large the original is and what you want over it. Send me a photograph and I will tell you straight whether it makes sense or whether laser removal first is the better route.

Sometimes — it depends on the condition. Tightening faded linework or adding background is usually fine. Redrawing someone else's piece from scratch, generally not.

No. I work in styles that have stood the test of time — Japanese, traditional, engraving and ornamental. Realism demands entirely different preparation and full concentration; doing it alongside Japanese work would mean doing both by halves.

Eighteen, with photo ID. No exceptions.

Of course, but only one. The studio is a workplace, not a café — a larger group disturbs me and the other artists.

Cash or bank transfer. The 50 € deposit goes by transfer when we agree the date, the rest after the session.
