Cookies
What this site stores in your browser, for how long, and how you change it.
What cookies are
Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser. They let a page remember a setting, or make it possible to measure how many people visit. localStorage and sessionStorage work in a similar way — this page lists them alongside cookies.
How it works on this site
On your first visit every analytics and advertising tool is switched off. The site uses Google Consent Mode v2, which means the measurement tags load in a “denied” state and store nothing until you say otherwise in the bar. Your choice is saved in your browser, so you are not asked again on the next visit.
Necessary
Required for the site to work at all. Always used, and cannot be switched off.
| Name | Stored where | Lifetime | Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|
tt-consent |
localStorage, this site | until deleted | remembers your choice in the cookie bar |
tt-want |
sessionStorage, this site | until the tab is closed | carries a motif from the gallery into the booking form when you click “I want something like this” |
Analytics
These measure visits through Google Analytics 4 (Google Ireland Limited) and are stored only with your consent. They are what tells me which pages people actually read and where the site gets in their way.
| Name | Domain | Lifetime | Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|
_ga | this site | 2 years | tells a returning visit from a new one |
_ga_<ID> | this site | 2 years | keeps GA4 session state |
Advertising
These relate to Google Ads. They record whether a visit came from an advert and whether it ended in an enquiry, and they make remarketing possible. Stored only with your consent.
| Name | Domain | Lifetime | Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|
_gcl_au | this site | 90 days | attributes a conversion to an ad click |
IDE | doubleclick.net | 13 months | ad measurement and targeting |
test_cookie | doubleclick.net | 15 minutes | checks whether the browser accepts cookies at all |
The map and third-party content
There is a Google Maps embed on the contact page.
It does not load automatically — until you click it, no connection to
Google is made. After you click, Google's content loads and its cookies (such as
NID or SOCS) may be set, under
Google's own policy.
Fonts are hosted on this server and are not fetched from Google Fonts. The site uses no social network tracking pixels.
How to change your consent
- Open the privacy settings here on the site and switch your choice.
- The same link is in the footer of every page.
- You can also clear cookies in your browser settings — the bar will then ask you again.
