I care about clean, precise work — every piece has to be worth carrying. Japanese and traditional are what I enjoy most, though I can be talked into other things (let us leave realism out of it, for everyone's sake).

When I am not tattooing I paint, or make odd but interesting objects. Drawing is the larger part of this job for me — the design happens on paper and on a tablet long before a needle touches anything.

I do not follow trends. Japanese work has centuries behind it and still holds up; traditional survived a hundred years on sailors and is still legible. That is a better reference for me than whatever is currently doing well on Instagram.

Rose And Dagger

I work from my own chair at Rose And Dagger on Karpatská 23 in Bratislava. I do not own the studio — I rent a station there, as several other artists do. For you that means two things:

  • I come in for booked appointments. You will not catch me there unannounced, even when the studio is open.
  • You will meet other artists and their clients. The studio is fully equipped, sterile and pleasant — it is simply not “mine”.

I think it is right to say that plainly. It is not a shortcoming, it is how most tattoo artists work — but it is fair that you know what you are walking into.

How I work

I draw every design myself and always for the person it is going on. For Japanese projects I draw straight onto a photograph of your arm or back, so the composition sits on your shape rather than on a generic one out of a book.

References from you are welcome. They help me understand the direction and the taste, not to copy. I do not reproduce someone else's tattoo exactly.

If you are not sure, I will not push. I would rather you leave without a date and come back in six months with a clear idea than carry something you had not thought through.

Hygiene and materials

  • Single-use needles and cartridges, opened in front of you.
  • Inks from established manufacturers, certified to the European standard.
  • Gloves, disposable barrier film on every surface, and disinfection between clients.
  • Afterwards you get a dressing and precise instructions for aftercare at home.
